We are a developing testing facility offering a comprehensive range of Ingress Protection (IP) testing services, from IP11 to IP69. While we are currently in the process of establishing our NABL accreditation, our facility is equipped to provide accurate and reliable testing to help you assess the performance of your products.

What is IP Testing?

IP (Ingress Protection) testing, as per the international standard IEC 60529, is a crucial process for evaluating the degree of protection an electrical or electronic enclosure provides against the intrusion of solid objects (like dust) and liquids (like water). The IP rating, a two-digit code, provides a clear and standardized measure of a product's resistance to these external elements.

•  First Digit (1-6): Indicates protection against solid foreign objects, from a hand-sized object (IP1X) to being completely dust-tight (IP6X).

• Second Digit (1-9): Indicates protection against liquids, from vertically dripping water (IPX1) to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets (IPX9).

Our Testing Capabilities:

Our facility is in the process of being fully equipped to conduct the full spectrum of IP tests, including:

• Solid Ingress (First Digit): We can test for protection against solid objects of various sizes, culminating in a full dust-tight test (IP6X) using specialized dust chambers.

• Liquid Ingress (Second Digit): Our capabilities will cover a wide range of water tests, including:

  • Dripping and Spraying Water (IPX1 - IPX4): Simulating conditions like light rain and splashing water.

  • Water Jets (IPX5 & IPX6): Testing the enclosure's ability to withstand low and powerful water jets.

  • Immersion (IPX7 & IPX8): Evaluating protection against temporary and continuous submersion under specific pressure and time conditions.

  • High-Pressure, High-Temperature Water Jets (IPX9): The most rigorous test, typically for products subjected to steam cleaning or harsh wash-downs.

We are developing a specialized testing facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, India, to offer comprehensive testing services for products intended to comply with UL 486A-B: Standard for Wire Connectors and Soldering Lugs for Use with Copper and/or Aluminum Conductors.

Understanding UL 486A-B:

UL 486A-B is a crucial safety standard that outlines the requirements for wire connectors and soldering lugs used with electrical conductors. It covers essential aspects such as:

• Mechanical Strength: Ensuring the connectors can withstand the necessary tensile and compressive forces, maintaining secure connections during installation and use.

• Electrical Conductivity: Verifying that the connectors provide efficient and low-resistance electrical connections to prevent overheating.

• Resistance to Environmental Factors: Testing for performance under various conditions like temperature fluctuations and corrosion.

• Temperature Rise: Evaluating the temperature rise of the connector under specified current loads.

• Wire Pull-Out: Assessing the force required to pull a wire out of the connector, ensuring secure termination.

While we are not a UL-certified laboratory, our facility is being established with the necessary equipment and expertise to conduct a wide range of tests as per UL 486A-B. Our services are ideal for manufacturers who need to:

• Pre-Compliance Testing: Conduct preliminary testing during the product development phase to identify and address potential non-conformities with UL 486A-B before seeking official UL certification. This can significantly reduce costs and time associated with re-designs.

• Research and Development (R&D): Validate new designs, materials, or manufacturing processes for wire connectors and soldering lugs against the requirements of the standard, aiding in product innovation and optimization.
